Elisabeth has exhibited work Internationally and sold knitted textile designs to renowned labels including Yves St. Laurent, Calvin Klein and Armani Exchange. After working as a freelance knitwear designer for the high street, Elisabeth started her label in 2008, as she wanted a new challenge and the opportunity to push the potential of knitted textiles, whilst creating beautiful products. In 2010 she won the Clothes Show Young Accessory Designer of the Year in Partnership with the Fashion and Textile Museum. Her winning piece was an innovative pleated scarf inspired by the work of Ricardo Legorreta, the Mexican architect who designed the bold and colourful building of the Fashion and Textile Museum.
She is passionate about luxury and only uses the finest quality natural fibres including Merino Wool, Lambswool and Silk to create the softest products. Elisabeth experiments combining these with more unusual yarns such as Lycra and Lurex to create exciting results and also produces Limited Edition Designs, which are an opportunity for her to create technically innovative as well as beautiful accessories.“Elisabeth Hamlyn” products are knitted in London and are an investment in the best of British design, skills and manufacture. Elisabeth creates many of her pieces by sculpting and manipulating fabric directly on the mannequin to develop unique garments. This is an intuitive process and one that allows her to investigate three-dimensional form with dramatic contrasts in scale and proportion. Each piece is beautifully made and meticulously finished by hand. Her garments can be purchased online and are made to order or they can be made to measure by commission. Elisabeth is happy to work directly with customer on a specific design and also welcomes a wide range of commissions and collaborations with other businesses, designers, photographers and artists.Thank you for taking interest in my work!
